GRANTS that open worlds

Through the generosity of our alumni community, the Lowell Alumni Association funds transformative experiences for the students of Lowell High School, from championship fields and concert halls to cultural landmarks across the nation. Every grant we award is a chapter in a student's story.

Each year, the Lowell Alumni Association (LAA) provides $150,000 in grant funding for projects in support of academic and extracurricular programs at Lowell High School. Lowell faculty, administrators, coaches and club sponsors are invited to submit grant requests for consideration by the LAA's Grant Committee, which then submits funding recommendations to the LAA Board of Directors. The LAA conducts two grant rounds each school year.

ACADEMIC ACCESS

LEAP Tutoring Program

Willie Brown Middle School, Other SFUSD Middle Schools, & Lowell High School

LEAP (Lowell Educational Achievement Program) connects Lowell student peer tutors with students at Willie Brown Middle School and other SFUSD middle schools, providing the academic preparation and confidence needed to thrive at a high-rigor high school. What began as a small initiative has grown into a community-wide pipeline — driven entirely by word-of-mouth excellence.

"The tutoring didn't just help me with my math; it made me feel like Lowellis where I actually belonged."

PERFORMING ARTS

Choir Spring Tour

New York City, New York

The Lowell Choir embarks on its annual Spring Tour to New York City, performing in historic venues, attending Broadway productions, and participating in master classes with celebrated vocal directors. A defining moment for our young vocalists.

PERFORMING ARTS

Orchestra at Carnegie Hall

Carnegie Hall, New York City

A once-in-a-lifetime honor: the Lowell Symphony Orchestra takes the stage at the world’s most storied concert hall. Months of rehearsal culminate in a performance our students and their families will remember for a lifetime.

VISUAL ARTS

Student Exhibits at MoMA

Museum of Modern Art, New York City

Selected works from Lowell’s Visual Arts students travel to the Museum of Modern Art for a special student showcase. A rare opportunity to see their work alongside the masters — and to be inspired by the very galleries that shaped modern art history.
